How Membership Works
GCONGO membership is open to NGOs, community-based organizations, nonprofits, and the professionals who serve them. The process has four steps — from choosing your category to being formally admitted as a member of the Council.
Step 1 — Choose Your Membership Category
There are three membership categories. Pick the one that matches your situation.
- Organizational Membership — USD 250 / year
Who it’s for: Legally registered NGOs, nonprofit organizations, and established CBOs.
What you get: Full member status, listing in the GCONGO member directory, access to all training, funding alerts, and international representation. - Associate Membership — USD 150 / year
Who it’s for: Small, emerging, or newly formed CBOs and grassroots organizations that are still building capacity.
What you get: Associate member status with access to training, funding alerts, and networking — with a pathway to upgrade to full Organizational Membership later. - Individual / Professional Membership — USD 90 / year
Who it’s for: NGO staff, practitioners, consultants, and civil-society professionals joining as individuals.
What you get: Professional member status, access to training and career resources, peer networks, and professional recognition pathways.
Step 2 — Verification & Accreditation
As part of the application process, GCNGO verifies the registration and governance standing of every applicant. This step confirms that the organization or individual meets the Council’s standards and is carried out by the GCONGO Membership Committee.
- Organizational Verification & Accreditation — Verification of your organization’s registration, constitution, and governance documents, followed by GCONGO accreditation.
- Professional Recognition — Verification of an individual professional’s experience and credentials, followed by formal recognition by the Council.
Verification and accreditation are part of the membership process itself — not a separate paid service. They are conducted as part of your application review.
Step 3 — Submit Your Application
- Complete the membership application form below. Provide your organization’s or individual information, select your category, and attach the required supporting documents.
Step 4 — Payment of Membership Fees
- After reviewing your application, an official payment invoice will be issued and sent to your email. Annual membership fees are payable only after your application has been reviewed and accepted.
Supporting Documents
After completing payment, email the following to membership@gcongo.org:
- Proof of payment (receipt, payment screenshot, or confirmation), and
- Clear, legible copies of supporting documents — for organizations: Certificate of Registration, Constitution, or organizational profile. For individuals: CV or professional profile.
Application Review Timeline
- The time taken to review and approve applications varies and depends largely on how quickly applicants submit complete documentation and respond to any follow-up requests from the GCONGO Membership Committee. Most applications are reviewed within 2–4 weeks of receiving complete documentation.
